One of the most important times of the year for the fashion industry is “Fashion Week” which is held in London, Paris, Milan and New York, one following on from another.

This prestigious event is a time when all the major fashion houses show their new collections for the following seasons to the major press and international buyers from around the world. Many of the houses organise catwalk shows – also known as runway shows – where models will parade up and down an elevated narrow walkway showing off the latest collection of clothes designed by the fashion house. This can be a costly time for a designer therefore they often look to the make-up brands for sponsorship such as MAC & Bobbi Brown.

The London School of Makeup was privileged this year to be asked to be involved by assisting the make-up artist behind the scenes of the Palmer//Harding show held at the new venue of Central St Martins in Kings Cross.

The students who are attending our fashion makeup courses have been working with all the major brands in our studios from Laura Mercier to Shu Uemura along with Ben Nye and YSL so are experienced in whatever brand are handed to them. During the show they gained first-hand the excitement of what it is like to work alongside top international names in the makeup industry and experience the reality of what happens back stage.

We will be looking forward to the next collections later on in the year and if possible be able to offer our new students this same opportunity.

If you would like the chance to assist at a fashion industry event, book a course with The London School of Makeup.
