Media and Photographic Courses

Diploma Programme

This is a follow-on to the Foundation course. Each day, working makeup artists are invited to teach the latest trends for photographic, catwalk and media makeup as well as hair session styling, fantasy looks, special effects and period makeup. The day is similar to the foundation course with it split into a demonstration, a question and answer, and a hands-on workshop.

At some stage during this section, you will be invited to participate in a photo-shoot of your own. You will have the ability to choose your own looks to use on a professional model from a London agency and have them photographed by a fashion photographer. For this, you will be given a call sheet with the time you are expected to arrive at the studio.

Have a look at our course page to find out more.

Examination Procedure

Towards the end of the foundation course, there will be a short multiple choice question paper set by the IMA (International Make-up Association) examination board, as well as a practical exam overseen by an independent examiner from the IMA.

Students will be given a brief to follow and asked to demonstrate their skills in a day makeup look and an evening look. They will also be asked to complete a project at home in their own time. Once the project is handed in and passed, they will receive the prestigious IMA certificate.

Students who are continuing on to the creative and media diploma courses will be judged and marked by the IMA solely on the work they have achieved in class without an examination.

To find out more about the examination process please have a look at our qualification page.
